The Jury

The following personalities will be judging the entries for the two different categories of the European Paper Recycling Award. It is forbidden for any applicant to try to contact any jury member before the award ceremony.

Phil Mogel, ERPC Chairman

Phil Mogel, ERPC Chairman

Born in New York City, Mr Mogel received a BSc from the State University of New York, and an MA (Dist) from the University of Liverpool.
In 1980 he joined the Kimberly Clark Away From Home marketing and development department. He was responsible for the development and launching of their protective clothing business, initially in the UK and later across Europe.
In 1992 he took over responsibility for environmental affairs for the Away From Home business and later became responsible for environmental product issues across all Kimberly Clark Businesses in Europe the Middle East and Africa.
In 2002 he started his own business Longhouse Environmental Consultancy Providing specialist environmental regulatory support to industry.
He was Chair of the Regulatory and Technical task force board of the European Tissue Symposium (ETS) until 2005. His consultancy was then given responsibility for managing external relations for ETS. As part of that responsibility he has represented ETS on the European Recovered Paper Council (ERPC) since they became signatures to the European Declaration on Paper recycling. He is currently the Chair of the ERPC.

Member, Committee on the Regions (1995-1999). Member, Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities (1995-1999).

David Barrio

David Barrio

David Barrio graduated from Business School at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1992), and obtained an executive MBA at Instituto de Empresa (Madrid) in 2003.

He started his professional career in the hospital supplies business, working for different laboratories in their commercial activities. In 1997 he joined the recovered paper company CARPA (Cartón y Papel Reciclado) as the Operations Manager, gaining experience in the recovered paper supply and trade. After a short period working at CHEP (Equipment Pooling Systems) he joined ASPAPEL, the Spanish Pulp Paper and Board Industry Federation in 2001 where he has been the Recycling Director since then. As part of this responsibility, he has actively participated in many working groups and Committees at CEPI, including the Recycling and Product Committee and the Paper Packaging Coordination Group. He is also the General Secretary of RECIPAP, the paper and board packaging representation at the Spanish green dot packaging scheme.
